Plastic Bottle Planters

Cut and decorate plastic bottles to create hanging planters or garden pots.

Hanging Planter

Materials Needed

  • Any plastic bottle
  • Scissors or a craft knife
  • String, rope, or twine
  • Marker (optional)
  • Hole punch or nail
  • Potting soil
  • Plant or seeds

Steps

Step 1: Rinse the bottle!

Step 2: Cut the plastic bottle horizontally or vertically depending on your preference

Step 3: Smooth the cut edges with sandpaper or tape

Step 4: Make small drainage holes at the bottom of the plastic bottle with your hole puncher

Step 5: Create two holes on the opposite sides of the bottle to thread the string through

Step 6: Thread string, twine, or rope through the holes and tie knots to secure. Adjust the length of the string to your preferred hanging height

Step 7: Add your soil and seeds to complete the recycled pot! You can even decorate the plastic bottle to add flare
